Psychologist Dr. Maja Grünzner

German & English-speaking

Integrative Systemic Therapist (in training)
Expat & Relational Psychology

I offer a supportive and confidential space for you to gain clarity in relationships and life transitions, understand recurring emotional and relational patterns, and reconnect with your own needs, so you can move forward with greater self-trust and confidence.

My work includes coaching and counseling for individuals, couples, families, and groups. I specialize in relational and personal themes such as emotional dependency, people-pleasing patterns, expat life and international transitions, as well as grief and loss.

Stefanie Maria Lorenz, Dipl.-Päd

"Work at the content and process level! Exceptional sensitivity and communication skills in and for the group process. Structured yet flexible time management geared toward the content and needs of the participants. A very good example of “practice what you preach.” Enormous technical and methodological competence, underpinning complex theoretical contexts with practical examples. All of this enables learning on very different levels, both technical and personal, with depth, ease, and movement."

About

Having lived and worked across the UK, Norway, Austria, Germany and Portugal, I am familiar with the psychological challenges of international and transitional lives, including shifts in identity, belonging, and relationships. I aim to offer a calm, non-judgemental space where complexity can be explored with honesty, care, and clarity.

I work with individuals, couples, and families who are going through a life transition or planning to do so. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and used to adapting to others or to demanding environments, yet feel exhausted, uncertain in relationships, or disconnected from their own needs.

Rather than offering quick fixes, my work focuses on understanding how these patterns developed and what continues to maintain them. I don’t view them as problems to be fixed, but as meaningful responses shaped by personal history, relationships, and context. Creating space to reflect on this often opens the door to sustainable change.

Qualifications

Experience

My professional background spans from private psychological coaching and counseling, academic research, teaching and training. Since 2024, I have been working in private practice, offering integrative psychological coaching and counseling, alongside teaching psychology and coaching methods, where I support the training of future psychological counsellors, systemic coaches, mediators, and supervisors. Previously, I worked in international, interdisciplinary research projects focused on behavior change and human–environment interactions. Earlier in my career, I gained experience in fitness coaching, supervised work in outplacement consulting as well as in a psychosomatic clinic, shaping an integrative and practice-informed perspective.

Approach

My work is collaborative, evidence-based, and experiential, with a strong focus on the connection between the mind, body and relationships. Rather than applying a fixed method, I adapt the work to each person and situation. Together, we explore how emotional and relational patterns developed, how they are maintained, and what supports change that feels sustainable and meaningful. I place particular emphasis on awareness, psychological flexibility, and reconnecting with personal needs and values.
